Software Engineer / Web Developer

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to be at the forefront of our Web Development efforts. As a member of back end team you will be responsible for designing and implementing high performance solutions having maximum availability using the latest Java/J2EE technologies.  Working with the Product Director and Site Usability Expert, this resource must demonstrate the ability to balance the ability to deliver complex technical solutions with the need to understand key business objectives while creating opportunity for company growth. This is an outstanding opportunity for a developer with 5+ years experience looking to contribute to an exciting company.

You will bring strong expertise in building code for the development and deployment of scalable, flexible and open based technology as well as have a thorough knowledge of integrating front and back ends working with disparate technologies on multiple platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extend current system which the runs core customer facing e-commerce site.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies and innovative methods to continually deliver the most appropriate solution for current site load and future scaling.
  • Work with team lead to strategize, design and implement a new CMS oriented solution to deliver fluid site design changes with seamless no-risk hot deployments.
  • Participate in architecture, documentation, and code reviews of peer developers.
  • Work within the Agile Software Development process to design, build, test, and deploy business requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ yrs working with Java, preferably with a focus on web application and Servlet technologies using the MVC pattern
  • Experience with using various persistence models such as Hibernate
  • Strong knowledge of Spring, Seam or similar containers
  • Experience with building SOA architectures
  • Passion and desire to understand, develop and implement leading edge technologies
  • This role requires excellent communication skills as you will be working with Designers, User Experience Researchers, Backend Engineers and Directors.
  • Experience with relational databases having excelling SQL/TSQL skills
  • Working understanding of RESTfull application design

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with financial based transactional processing
  • Experience with Solr or Lucene
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Couch DB a plus
